At KICK Greens, concern for our impact on the environment is paramount. All our packaging is compostable, tested and proven to break down in our own compost piles, while our simple labels reflect a choice to use thermal printing that requires no ink and no toner replacement.

the technique
KICK Greens is a small 'vertical farm', growing microgreens and mini-greens in trays on soil mats. Microgreens are sprouted greens, 1-2 weeks to harvest, and are the true plant's 'sprout' or 'shoot'. Mini-greens are quick growing baby greens, with sets of true leaves, 3-5 weeks from sowing to harvest.

The KICK Shed, affectionately called the Sprout Barn, is a specially designed, 4 season, indoor production facility located near Onanole MB. Supplying communities is western Manitoba and Winnipeg with greens fresh cut weekly, all year long, the 'barn' is Farmer T's happy place.

Indoor production appeals to my need for routine. It's much easier to control the conditions in the barn compared to the ones in the garlic patch or vegetable garden. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to help feed the Parkland and my Winnipeg fam, even in the winter. Good eating!

Sunflower shoots make a great snack! The variety most often loved by kids, the iconic 'sunnie' is the sprout featured in the KICK Greens logo. Spice them up with salt and garlic powder, or eat them plain when you're on the road. They also make a great pesto!
